The Sims Social, which career path are you going to choose?

As I have mentioned it before, I was never a big fan of Sims 2 Pets, so I was not really looking forward to Sims 3 Pets even though I think it adds a bit of life to the game, as let’s face it, animals and insects are part of life. My daughter loved Sims 2 pets, and like most Sims fan, what she wanted the most for it was to be able to control the pets. You could only do that by using a cheat in Sims 2 Pets. So there you go! With Sims 3 Pets, you have to control your pet, it is just like another Sim and if you ask me, it is too much work and I’m not really interesting. I’m a great fan of pets in real life, but Sims are something else. Hey, I never enjoyed Tamagotchi either LOL

I have to admit cats and dogs in this game look really cute, you can customize them and the cute new animations are fun to watch. But in any case, they are way too demanding in my humble opinion. Even though I am not using any custom content, I am playing with a custom made World called Jericho, and I am not sure if it is it, but I am having a few issues, certain things I cannot do. For example, I can’t cook, as it says there is no bench space, although my Sim has a full kitchen, and I cannot do anything at the equestrian centre. Also, with the latest update to include the new social features of the Sims 3, my Sim’s cat got stuck in the game. I tried all sorts of things to make him playable again but with no luck, my Sim had to give him up. As it happens with real cats, there is no way to persuade him to do anything he doesn’t intend to, and thus said, I think this is very realistic for a cat LOL. But as I said, even when the pets are too demanding, they are cute, and I love my cat.

The best thing I was looking forward to in the Sims 3 Pets was the addition of horses. With them, there are new riding skills for the Sims, so you can train at the same time the horse and the rider, in order to use these new animals for competitions and transportation. Once your horse completes certain skill challenges, such as racing competitions or jumping, the value of their offspring is increased. Unlike horses, you still cannot sell cats and dogs. There is a new pet adoption system which is pretty fun: you can look them up by phone or computer, and preview the images and traits of animals available. You can also visit your neighbors and adopt their animals.

There are some things I find a bit weird in the Sims 3 Pets, but then again, I should not be surprise, this is Sims after all, and it is all part of the fun. For example, I friended a horse at the park, because it seems to be roaming the town… and since my sim lives in an apartment, she cannot own a horse, but the horse came to pay a visit and was waiting downstairs at the door (?) It was also interesting to see my Sim’s cat “talking” with a horse he befriended too at the park! I read somewhere that there are unicorns wondering around, which may be really exciting to see, but I’m yet to bump into one of those. My Sim went to the movies at night and on her way out, she was not quick enough to get her camera out but she swears she saw a… kangaroo!!! It seems to me that if it was a movie adaptation of the game, Eddie Murphy should play a big part in it, I don’t know why LOL

There are more than dogs, cats and horses, of course. When my daughter finally gets a chance to play the Sims 3 on my laptop, I know she is going to own every single pet available with the Sims 3 Pets, especially since cats seems to bring home turtles, snakes, lizzards…. She is going to have an amazing farm!

Other additions in Sims 3 Pets include a few new sets of clothes (some of them pretty cool), pretty new furniture, and a couple new hairstyles. Even though you would need to own Sims 3 Ambitions expansion pack, I would have liked to see a new profession with Sims 3 Pets such as “Farmer”. Pets and gardening really go hand in hand and I am pretty sure a lot of Sims fans would have loved it, not that it is stopping you from building and nice farm or ranch.

To sum up, Sims 3 Pets adds a few fun features, such as horses (which can make you earn some good money if you are willing to breed them and dedicate some time to their training skills). Even though it wasn’t my favorite, I’m sure Sim fans all over the world won’t be disappointed, as the graphics are so cute, and the animals are fun to take care of. Sims 3 Pets has a few new ideas that make us think that there will be a long time before we get enough from the Sims.

As a magician, your Sim begins their career on the streets performing magic tricks for tips. They’ll visit new venues and meet with the owners to book larger gigs and gain experience. Magicians have unique social interactions that give them the ability to perform small-scale tricks on other Sims such as pulling a coin from an ear and making butterflies and doves magically appear. As magicians level up, they acquire new objects that can be used on-stage. For some magical fun, your Sims can use the Box of Mystery to perform the “swords of destiny” by carefully placing knives through the box without stabbing the Sim inside. Beware the Box of Danger! In Sims 3 Pest Expansion there are two types of pets. There are rather simple pets that require very little interaction. These pets are more like furniture that crawls. You can also try to capture wild pets, but you will have to put some time into taming them. It can be beneficial because most of the wild pets will have some serious skills that would otherwise take some time to gain.

You get to actually control your pets in this expansion pack. You can move them around from room to room. Make them climb on the furniture just like real pets do when their owners are away, but the real fun begins, when you get outside. Get your Sims dog outside, and start hunting for valuable things like gems and ore. Get things that will increase your Sims bank account so that you can buy more virtual stuff. Your virtual pets take from the family, they should also have to contribute something.

This time around there are horses in the Sims 3 Pets expansion pack. Horses can do a few things very well, one of which is race. If you train your horse the right way, you could really make some serious Simoleons with that four legged money basket. Horses get to race and compete in other equestrian related challenges, and you and your Sims get to reap all of the rewards.

Not only will the horse be able to contribute some massive winnings to your bank account, but your Sims character can also gain skills that are needed throughout the game. It is a win win situation, and just think, all you have to do is adopt a horse. If you wanted, you could really exploit this feature of the game to become the richest Sim in the world, and that is coming straight from the horse’s mouth.

You have the wonderful option of breeding your pets, and then selling them for massive Simoleons. There is a trade-off though. Once you sell your wonderful pet, they will not be able to hunt down treasures, they will not be able to do any of the tricks that you may have spent hours teaching them, and they will not be able to poop on your neighbors lawn, but that is okay, because you can just train another pet to take its place. The whole object is to play, experiment, and have fun.

Well that choice is entirely up to you. Your dog, cat, or horse could be purple with green feet, and yellow stars around its face. You have tools at your disposal that allow you to tweak, enhance, and change the way your virtual pets look. If you start breeding your pets, some of your mad creations might be passed down to the babies. Who knows, you may even create the perfect animal, but you will never know if you don’t give it a try.

Overall the Pets in The Sims 3 Pest Expansion look and move just like their real counterparts, except for the green an purple ones that you create. The animations are smooth and lifelike, and controlling your Sims pets is a lot of fun. While they may have no real affect on the overall Sims world, your little furry friends from The Sims 3 Pets Expansion are a lot of fun to play with.

Be sure to take care of your cat’s needs or they may scratch and dig their claws into household furniture items. Relieve their destructive nature by taking them to the cat jungle or buying them a scratching tower.
